Criminals in Lusaka have killed a cop in an aggravated robbery and stole K200, 000.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the development in Lusaka today.

Hamoonga says the robbery which occurred on Tuesday August 2, 2016 between 09:00hrs and 10:00hrs happened along Lunzia Road, off Addis Ababa Road.

“Facts of this incident are that the deceased was in the company of another officer in a cash transit vehicle which was collecting cash from various filling stations en-route to their head office along great east road after which their motor vehicle was hit from behind by a Toyota Noah and later stopped,” Hamoonga says.

“When they stopped and got out of the cash transit vehicle to check what had happened, another motor vehicle a Toyota corolla approached the scene and the occupants of this motor vehicle came out and started firing indiscriminately thereby shooting
Constable Pyshias Ntulukila in the abdomen.”

He says the constable was later rushed to Care for Business Hospital where he later died.

And Hamoonga says the Toyota Noah was reported stolen vehicle yesterday around 23:00hrs in Lusaka’s Makeni east area.

The police have since launched a manhunt for the criminals who are reported to have also snatched cash amounting to over 200,000.

“We would like to warn these criminals that as police, when you attack one of our police officers whilst on duty, you have attacked the entire police,” says Hamoonga.

He says police shall not leave any stone unturned in bringing these criminals to book as the department will employ all legal means at its disposal.

He has also appealed to members of the public who may have information to report to the nearest police station so that the criminals can face the full wrath of the law.

  1. Why can’t you give more details on the Corolla so that the public can help? Death of a police officer at the hands of robbers is a very worrying death for all of us as citizens. MHSRIP.

  2. Why should Edgar Lungu impose himself as the winner of the 11th August elections while elections are not yet held ? What makes him feel he is already elected ? Does he have respect for elections or we have got another Hitler in sheep’ s skin ? It annoys me very much to listen to his rhetoric speeches.

  6. Loss of life is always a sad development. However, basic training for all Cash-In-Transit (CIT) operations is never to stop no matter what. Even their insurance is based on the same premise. It beats all logic that even cops are so trusting and just assume a car bashes you from behind is just a normal accident!!!! I am willing to supply the police force a movie “The Italian Job”. Start learning how to make a thieve’s job a little more difficult, please!

  8. IN OTHER COUNTRIES, DEATH OF A POLICE OFFICER MOBILISES ALL POLICE OFFICERS AND THEY WILL NOT SLEEP UNTIL THEY ARE APPREHENDED. IT LEAVES ALOT OF QUESTION MARKS ABOUT OUR OWN INTERNAL SECURITY.

IN BOTSWANA WHEN SUCH AN INCIDENT HAPPENS HELICOPTERS HOOVER AROUND GABORONE CITY AND BY EVENING ROBBERS ARE SHOT DEAD OR ARRESTED

    PATROTISM APPEARS LACKING

  10. This is what happens when the police force are released to be PF cadres who just oppress the opposition and fail to look for criminals who later multiply and kill the police. Now the police will know what it feels for people to lose a family member at the hands of stupid PF police. Condolences to any the family , anyway.
