Criminals break into a shopping complex, attack security guard

Unknown armed Criminals in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt have allegedly broken into a shopping complex in Jomo Kenyatta Avenue and attacked a Security Guard in the process.

The criminals who were armed with guns grabbed the security guard’s shot gun pump action from him and later held him hostage before attempting to break into the house of Jin Chen mart proprietor a Chinese National Businessman.

The incidents is believed to have occurred in the early hours of today, between 02:00 and 03:00 hours.

In a statement by Copperbelt Commanding Office Peacewell Mweemba made available to Zambian Eye, police received the report through a telephone message by unnamed resident of Mufulira.

Mweemba said upon been in receipt of the incident police rushed to the scene and fired some shots that led to some criminals escaping.

He said police searched the scene and recovered the pump action grabbed from the guard within the yard stating that the criminals However did not steal anything.
