Court to rule on Lungu’s third term bid, Presidential petition

This week the country will have three high profile cases come before court. The case where some opposition political parties aligned to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) are seeking a court ruling that republican president Edgar Lungu is eligible to run for a third term. The case is coming up in the Constitutional Court on 30th October 2017 at 09:00hrs.

On the same date, the court will also have a hearing of the Petitions relating to whether Constitutional Court proceeded correctly when it terminated the Presidential petition proceedings.

On 31 October 2017 at 09:00 rehearing of the PETITION on whether speaker should have taken over as Acting President during the petition hearing.

The following day, on 1st November 2017 at 09:00 the Lusaka Central Constituency election petition ruling on Margaret Mwanakatwe’s appeal against the annulment of her seat. Mwanakatwe who serves as Commerce Minister had her election nullified by the High Court.
