Court sets date for Vedanta joinder to KCM liquidation case

The Lusaka High Court has set June 20 as the day it will rule on whether or not Vedanta Resources Limited can be joined to the winding up petition of Konkola Cooper Mines.

And the mining firm’s provisional Liquidator Milingo Lungu has objected to the appointment of Messrs Nchito and Nchito, a law firm representing Vedanta due to conflict of interest.

Lungu says Nchito and Nchito is representing Barclays bank in its lawsuit against KCM in which the bank is claiming bargain at the mining giant.

Last week, Vedanta through its London based Director raised preliminary issues asking the court to state whether liquidation of KCM can be conducted without being heard through lawyers of their choice.
