Council workers countrywide have not received their June and July 2018 salaries, the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has revealed.

Speaking in Lusaka yesterday, ZCTU president Chishimba Nkole said he is concerned that the workers have gone two months without being paid by their respective local authorities.

Nkole expressed disappointment that government workers at council level have been struggling to get their salaries.

And when contacted for a comment by Phoenix News on the matter, Ministry Local Government Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga acknowledged that some council workers have not been paid but argued that not all local authorities have failed to meet salary obligations as some have been paying their workers.
