Copperbelt records highest number of new registrations, ECZ

The Electoral Commission Of Zambia (ECZ) says the Copperbelt Province recorded the highest number of new registrations.

He says new registrations in the province stands at 165,848, followed by Southern Province With 143,397, while Lusaka registered 120,026.

Speaking during a press briefing, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro announced that provisional figures indicate 1,028,503 new registrations, comprising 478,295 males and 550,208 females.

He further disclosed that 1,181,553 updates were recorded, including transfers, replacement of lost or damaged voter cards, and removal of deceased voters.

Kasaro reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to a transparent, inclusive, and credible voter registration process, expressing optimism for a successful conclusion as the 26 November deadline approaches.

“All in all ECZ has registered a total of 2.2 Million Voters Through New Registrations And Updates Recorded During Phases One To Six Of The Ongoing Mass Voter Registration Exercise.

“As The Extended Phase Enters Its Final Week, The Commission Has Confirmed That The Registration Period, Previously Extended By 15 Days To Accommodate High Turnout, Will Not Be Prolonged Beyond The Final Deadline Of 26 November 2025,” he said.
