Copper Queens make CAF Team of the Year shortlist…as Daka, Mwepu get nomination

The Zambia Women National Team’s dream run has borne some fruit with the team among the nominees for Team of the Year accolade for the 2019 CAF awards.

Zambia has been nominated alongside Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, Ivory Coast and Nigeria.

The Copper Queens are among the top two teams competing for a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games slot against Cameroon.

Joining the lost of nominees is Bruce Mwape who is in the running for Coach of the Year in the women football category.

The Red Bull Salzburg duo of Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu have made the shortlist for the CAF Young Player of the Year.

Daka won the accolade in 2017.

The awards will be held on January 7, 2020.
