The Constitutional Court has set December 7, 2018 as the date it will deliver on whether President Edgar Lungu is eligible to seek reelection in 2021.

This is in a matter where four PF-aligned political parties, namely Christian Democratic Party led by Dan Pule, Zambia Republican Party led by Wright Musoma, New Congress Party led by Peter Chanda and Robert Mwanza’s Citizen Democratic Party have petitioned the Court to determine whether President Lungu qualifies to run for another five-year term of office.

Deliberations in the matter closed in May this year but the Constitutional Court has only announced the date of judgement today in a notice sent to lawyers representing all the parties to the case.

“Please take note that the above mentioned petition will be determined by the Constitutional Court sitting at Lusaka on the 7th day of December 2018 at 09:00 hours in court two, Supreme Court Building,” reads the notice sent to lawyers.
