Colombia wins to host next UNWTO

The United Nation World Tourism (UNWTO) delegates has chosen Colombia as the next host of the UNWTO general conference.

This is after Colombia beat Cambodia during the voting held in Livingstone on Thursday August 29,2013. Colombia got 60 votes while Cambodia only managed to get 38 with some countries absent from the voting.

However, Colombia’s win  does not come as a surprise after a pleasant display during the Colombia night were it displayed its tourism through music and dances.
The 21 session of the UNWTO  conference which will be held in 2015 will now be held in Medellin, Colombia. The 20th edition which was jointly co hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe open on Saturday in the Victoria Falls town of Zimbabwe while the official closure was conducted last night in Livingstone.

The conference among other things saw the re election of Dr. Taleb Rifai as Secretary General of the World’s Tourism body.
