Coach Renard names Squard for Senegal match

Zambian Coach Herve Renard has named a 20-man-squard for the international friendly match against Senegal in Paris next Wednesday.

FAZ Communications Manager and Spokesperson Erick Mwanza has told a media briefing in Lusaka on Wednesday that Coach Renard has called 20 players for this fixture. He said this is a long standing policy of utilizing every available FIFA international calendar date to engage some of the best teams in the world and enhance the competitiveness of the national team.

Unveiling the squad which has five top strikers, Mwanza said in view of the CHAN2014 Qualifier between Zambia and Zimbabwe taking place on Sunday in Harare, one section of the Chipolopolo technical staff will not travel to Harare but fly to Paris to commence training for the August 14 match. The staff and players who play in Harare will then fly to Paris soon after the match on Sunday.

“Its important for us to win in Harare but not so much in Paris because for the match in France, its about getting together as a squad, as a unit and as a family that is more important than the final score.

Its about us looking ahead to and fully focusing on the FIFA World Cup qualifier and reminding ourselves of the challenge the president (FAZ chief) Kalusha gave the squad in June; and that is to prepare mentally, psychologically and in every aspect and be ready for battle of Kumasi,” Mwanza said adding that players that had not been called for the match in Paris would still get consideration when Renard names his 23 man squad for the 6th September final Group ‘D’ decider in Kumasi.

On the CHAN squad preparing for the final round first leg qualifier, Mwanza said the team was in good shape and would be going to Harare for a win.

The full squad called for the match against Senegal:  MWEENE Kennedy, MUNYAU Danny, MUNTHALI Christopher, MUSONDA Joseph, NKAUSU Davies, CHAMA Bronson, SUNZU Stoppila, HIMONDEE Hichani, MTONGA Kondwani, KABASO Chongo, SINKALA Nathan, KALABA Rainford, LUNGU Chisamba, KATONGO Christopher, TEMBO Fwayo, MULENGA Jacob, MAYUKA Emmanuel, MWAPE Bornwell, CHAMANGA James, MBEWE Festus
