Former Zanaco coach Keegan Mumba has died, reports Zambian Eye Sports journalist.

Mumba died last night at Lusaka Trust Hospital in Lusaka after an illness, Football Association of Zambia confirmed his death.

The former Zambia under-20 team coach was during the recent CAF ‘A’ licensing coach course admitted to hospital.

Mumba was passionate and highly critical in some football deliberations and for his open interaction and comments about FAZ in the media, at times attracted sanctions like the 90-day ban from Football House.

He was successful with a number of clubs in Zambia including Zanaco,Choma Eagles,Konkola Blades and GBFC while abroad he coached Zimbabwean teams like Black rhinos,Motor action and Dynamos.

Meanwhile former U-20 international midfielder Kizito Cheelo said Keagan was like his father during his days at Choma Eagles, he described Mumba’s death as a shocking and that it will take time for him to forget the former Under-20 coach.

He said this through the message he posted on his Facebook page:

“Am where  iam because of you,you were like my father to me…you loved me like your used to advice and encourage me in my career,i just can’t believe you are gone coacher, I will deeply miss you honestly you were one of the best coaches in Zambia no doubt and i feel honoured to have played under you both at international and club level….I will never forget what you did in my life and career…can’t stop crying zoona….I just can’t believe you are gone,” says Kizito

Apart from coaching Keagan Mumba was a qualified Journalist who once worked with ZANIS.
