Zambia national football team acting head coach Wedson Nyirenda has announced a provisional squad of 33 players ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier with Nigeria.
The invited players from the local league will go into residential camp on Sunday, September 25 in Ndola.
Nyirenda’s list sees several players returning to the fold including Chisamba Lungu, Fwayo Tembo, Kennedy Mweene, Kabaso Chongo and Patson Daka.
Others are Collins Mbesuma, Charles Zulu, Jack Chirwa, Richard Kasonde and Mwape Mwelwa.
Power Dynamos defender Lawrence Chungu has been re-called to the senior national team since December 2013 when he was named in the provisional squad for the Cecafa competition by Patrice Beaumelle.
Nyirenda was named as national team assistant coach on September 13 and in the absence of a substantive head coach will be acting head coach.
His immediate task is to prepare and come up with the team for the match against Nigeria on October 9.
