Chinese investors to revamp Mulungushi Textiles

Chinese Investors have shown serious interest in helping revamp the defunct Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe, Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga has revealed.

Mushanga says the Investors who came through during Central Province Investment Expo which was held in October 2018 in Kabwe have now started showing interest in many sectors and industries in Central Province.

Mushanga said this at a briefing in Kabwe on June 20 at his office  during an update on the results from Last years expo. He said that one of the investor who attended the expo has come forward with intentions to re-open Mulungushi textiles.

Mushanga has explained that the re-opening of the textile is expected late this year or early next year and the investment is expected to create not less than 500 job opportunities for a start.

He further said the provincial administration was now considering some of the products that may be produced at Mulungushi textiles once it is revived.

During the 2015 Presidential bye Election  and 2016 General Elections Campaigns, the governing Patriotic Front assured Kabwe residents that  Mulungushi Textiles will be opened as soon as their get a new mandate. Almost four years down the line, the once vibrant company in the Kaunda era is still defunct.
