Chikankata grandma raped on Christmas

An 83-year-old grandma has been raped by a man aged 25 of her village in Chikankata District, Southern Province.

The incident occurred on December 25, 2022 between 02:00 hours and 03:00 hours in Chinyona Muchila village.

Deputy police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident saying the man is identified as John Munyeke.

Munyeke was caught by the woman’s neighbours who heard her screaming for help.

Mwale said the investigations revealed that Munyeke broke into the victim’s house between 02:00 hours and 03:00 hours who was alone and forced himself on her.

He said the victim is currently receiving medical attention at Chikankata Mission Hospital while the suspect is in police custody.
