Chief Sinazongwe dies

Chief Sinazongwe of the Tonga-speaking people of Sinazongwe in Southern Province has died.

The traditional leader died last night at the university teaching hospital in Lusaka after an illness.

Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale has confirmed the death of chief Sinazongwe in a statement issued today.

The Minister who is saddened by the demise of the traditional leader says his death is a blow to the province as he was an advocate of socio-economic development not only in his chiefdom but the province at large.

And Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama took to social media to express his shock at the death of the traditional leader whom he referred to as a unifier.

He says the death is a set back to the vision of having Southern Province split into two provinces.

    The chief was always hospitable when representatives of our church visited to support the developmental work of World Vision. His legacy stretches around the world.
