‘Chicken’ George Lwandamina leaves Zesco United

George Lwandamina has left his position as Zesco United head coach with immediate effect, the club has announced.

According to a statement released by club chief executive officer Justin Mumba, Lwandamina tendered his resignation this morning.

Mumba says the club have accepted his resignation and thanked him for his work and contribution to the club.

He has also announced that assistant coach Tenant Chembo has been appointed as acting head coach until the end of the season.

Lwandamina joined the club in 2014 and has won two league titles, one Barclay’s cup, Charity Shield and guided the club to the 2016 edition of the CAF champion’s league semi-finals.

The former Chipolopolo coach has been linked with a move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans, where he has reportedly been offered a bumper two-year deal with a monthly salary of US$18,000
