Calm returs to Mazabuka

Peace has retained to Mazabuka town 150 kms South of Lusaka after residents went amok and rioted Wednesday late afternoon to evening, reports Zambian Eye Southern province Correspondent.

The Police have confirmed saying business has since resumed in town adding that a Police Officer who is alleged to have beaten a suspect who later died causing residents to riot has since been arrested.

The officer has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court soon, according to the Police Command in Southern province.

A number of people who participated in the riots were picked by Police though they had not been charged by press time.

The Riots broke out after a Police is alleged to have beat a suspect who later died in the morning of Wednesday.
