By-election in Western province

After a break, the country will within the next 90 days hold a parliamentary by-election in Mangango constituency, Western province.

This follows the Supreme Court nullification of the Parliamentary Seat held by Robert Taundi Chiseke of the opposition MMD.

The Supreme on Monday, May 19, 2014 ruled that Mr. Chiseke was not dully elected citing malpractices in the poll during the 2011 General election.

Mr. Chiseke who is one of the Deputy Ministers at Commerce had appealed the case after the High Court nullified his seat.

Mangango becomes one of the many Parliamentary Seats held by the former ruling party that have been nullified by the Courts of law.

Some of the MMD seats nullified and are yet to hold elections are Kasenengwa held by Victoria Kalima, Petauke Central held by Dora Siliya  and Malambo held by Maxwell Mwale all in Eastern province.

In North Western province, is Solwezi Central held by Lucky Mulusa and one seat held by opposition UPND in Mulobezi, Western province
