Belemu speaks out over failure to fly govt officials to Ivory Coast

Mahogany air CEO, Dr Jim Belemu says he will not say much though it was regrettable that the Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Elvis Nkandu and his Permanent Secretary Mr. Kangwa Chileshe together with other officials were made to wait yesterday at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

This was as a result of a technical fault on the designated 737 aircraft, from the international operation.

“When such happens we put business aside and safety takes precedence,” he said.

He said It may be frustrating equally to us but hard decisions are made since safety takes center stage.

Though late, at least we managed to get into line a back up aircraft through our partner network”, he said.

It is for this reason that I will on Monday next week meet with the Minister and the Permanent Secretary to review what transpired on Friday.

I have observed so many gaps and incorrect reported statements from the media.

I don’t even know where the amount stated in the media as payment to the us is coming from as it is incorrect. Perhaps it will be interesting to know how the amount mentioned was arrived at.

We have always conducted such assignments both within the country and in other neighboring countries, sometimes in difficult and tight situations.

We also prioritizes the confidentiality on movements of National Team and its officials.

We always prioritize integrity in whatever services we do and we remain focused.
