Barotse Activists takes a swipe at PS Mwamba… there is no secession of Barotseland

The Barotse National Youth League says it it erronous for Western Province Permanent Secretary (PS) Emmanuel Mwamba to allege that the Barotse National Council resolutions were done by a group or people from outside Zambia.

Mwamba last week said the activities on delinking Western province from Zambia were very organized and done by a group of people outside the country. He said the calls and activities were serious and well coordinated.

League National Publicity Secretary  Ndonji Mutondo told Zambian Eye that there is no secession on the Barotseland Independence because the only relationship that existed was based on the Barotse Agreement of 1964 which successive goverments have not honoured.

Mutondo said Barotseland was a protectorate and existed before the Zambia saying they also have nothing to do with Zambia. He further explained that Zambia is not a unitary state as Barotseland is not part of Zambia as even the constitution proves.

He said Mwamba and his clique has subjugated Barotseland since 1969 saying nothing justifies their presence in that land apart from the military hardware which they think will bring peace.

Mutondo said there is nothing wrong in them writing to the SADC, AU, UN and others to handle the matter legally. He said it is lack of merit and capacity for the PS to ask the Attorney General to withdraw the complaint on their behalf.

The Barotse Youth League official has since advised Mwamba that the case is no interest to him and Zambia but is of big interest to the people of Barotseland saying it is irreversible. Mutondo said this in a statement to the Zambian Eye on August 28,2013
