5% Zambians marry under age

A study has established.

The figure above shows the percentage of women age 20-24 who married before age 15 or age 18 by province.

At national level, results show that 5 percent of the women age 20-24 were married before age 15, while 29 percent were married before age 18.

By province, women age 20-24 who were married before age 15 ranged from a high of 11 percent in Northern to a low of 1 percent in Copperbelt.

Similarly, the percentage of women who were married before age 18 was highest in Eastern at 45 percent, and lowest in Copperbelt at 14 percent.
