5 nabbed for sexually assaulting woman with bottle

Police in Ndola have arrested and charged with indecent assault five women who violently inserted a beer bottle into a 21-year-old woman’s genitalia for allegedly having an affair with the husband of one of the assailants.

The assailants filmed the shocking act and circulated the video clips on social media, sparking outrage among members of the public.

Police have named the suspects as Precious Kapambwe, 25, who is the wife to the husband in question, and her friends Bridget Chisha, 21, Magrette Mwansa, 25, Catherine Banda, 29 and Maureen Mutale, 29.

The five suspects reportedly carried out the assault on Saturday, December 1, around 20:00 hours when the victim was out having a drink at Masala Main market with the alleged husband.

“The wife is said to have arrived in the company of four other women and upon seeing this, the husband ran away leaving the victim alone,” reads a police statement.

“The wife and her friends picked the victim by force and took her to home where she was forced to undress and later sexually assaulted. The 21-year-old victim of house number 2180 New Mushili, reported that she was indecently assaulted by the five women and she had sustained bruises inside the vagina and general body pains.

“Police visited the scene and apprehended the suspects and recovered two cell phones containing the video and pictures, as well as clothes belonging to the victim.

“The five suspects are in police custody charged with the subject offence.”
