34 Luangwa high school students arrested

About 34 pupils from Luangwa High School in Lusaka Province have been arrested over a riot that happened at the school on Monday August 5,2013.

The pupils with others at the school allegedly destroyed school property at the school during the incidence.

The pupils were rioting over poor sanitary conditions at the school.

Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday explained that the pupils will be made to account for the loss of properties at the school.

Kasosa explained that the case involving the pupils will be dealt with by the police.

Education Minister John Phiri last month closed three schools in Serenje District of Central Province over riots.

Riots have continued in the country despite government asking all pupils to sign a form of declaration not to resort to riots.
