Three vehicle, 2 belonging to Chingola Municipal Council have been burnt during riots in Chingola’s Kapisha area.

According to Rise FM Crew that rushed to the scene found scores of residents blocking the road and sharing the remaining parts of the burnt vehicles.

Kapisha Ward Councillor Geoffrey Ngandwe told the crew that the riots started Friday night until Saturday morning after word went round that some people are burying a body at night which did not seat well with the residents.

Rise FM News reports that Ngandwe says contrary to speculations, the people that were at the graveyard were Public health inspectors from Chingola Municipal Council who went to bury a decomposed body at around 20:00hrs.

He says the residents mistook the inspectors to ritual killers and questioned why the body was being buried at night.

Ngandwe says it is unfortunate that the residents extended their anger to Council vehicles which have been burnt.

By press time, both Police and Chingola Municipal Council were yet to issue a statement .
