263 arrested in Lusaka, Copperbelt ‘Operation Chalo’

Law Enforcement Agencies have so far arrested 263 people in the operation dubbed Chalo conducted on Friday and Early hours of Saturday in Luapula and the Copperbelt provinces.

The Drug Enforcement Commission, The Zambia police and Department of Immigration conducted the operations in all the provinces.

The Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Department of Immigration confirmed that the arrested 263 individuals were rounded up for drug offences, immigration offences and general crimes. After various complaints from the public in various parts of the country.

Drug Enforcement Commission public relations manager Theresa Katongo says the commission is still compiling the numbers in the remaining 8 provinces.

Katongo says screening has started in Lusaka and the delay in compiling the total number of people arrested in all provinces is because other provinces finished the operation today.
