PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says Zambians must forget about the one Zambia, one nation motto because the country is divided.

Speaking in Chinsali during a church service in honour of freedom fighter Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe’ s wife Salome this afternoon,  President Lungu said the country was no longer one and that the one Zambia, one nation motto was only on the lips of others.

He,  however, said mama Salome helped bring the nation together as some of her children got married to Tongas and Lozis.

And President Lungu said there were too many young people pretending to be a freedom fighters when they were imposters.

He said many young people were not freedom fighters but claiming to be such.

President Lungu warned that those doing so must stop posturing because they would be inviting trouble unto themselves.

And President Lungu said those who thought they had freedom and could do anything must get ready because freedom was expensive.

President Lungu, who was flanked by Dr Kenneth Kaunda and fourth Republican president Rupiah Banda, said he would only recognize true freedom fighters and not imposters.

  1. I am shocked by the utterances of President Lungu. Some things are better not sayed..He is the head of state & it is part of his mandate to bring the country together unlike where he is literally saying “i do not care” about the One Zambia One Nation.

    • I totally agree with President Edgar Lungu that Zambia is divided. But who caused this division of Zambia if it is not the PF itself. When Michael Sata’s PF came into power in 2011, one of the first things he undertook was to appoint an all Bemba/Nyanja Cabinet and only two or three bootlickers from other tribes in Zambia! Sata was warned about this but his response was to create Muchinga Province where he took the bulk of Zambia’s development at the expense of other parts of Zambia, especially the North-Western regions of the country! Then came President Lungu, the same thing happened only difference is he appointed a cabinet full of Nyanjas and made Chipata a city at the expense of larger towns than chipata like Choma. The aim of making chipata a city is to take development to the Eastern Province. Why shouldn’t Zambia be divided going by these examples i have highlighted and many more that most of you readers might know which i am not privy to?

      • So, in short, other parts of the country, especially the North-Western parts of zambia are definitely unhappy. For example, the KAZUNGULA – SESHEKE ROAD is in a deplorable state and yet this Road is an extension of the Great Trans Namib Highway that brings Zambian and Congolese Imports and Exports in and out of these two countries from Walvis Bay. To the contrary and suprise, the Republican President is talking about constructing a railway line from Petauke to i don’t know where instead of starting with this dilapidated road or indeed assist Mr Enoch Kavindele to complete his viable railway line to the Angolan Border. WHY SHOULDN’T ZAMBIA BE DIVIDED?

  2. If what has been said above is true, then it is a pity especially to those of us who voted for PF in 2016. So we continue to divide Zambia as said above.

  3. Lets also condemn thoz chiefs encouraging tribalizm coz they are also leaders and am sure thats wat the head of state was referring to. Chiefs in other provinces always remain neutral despite who is imprisoned e.g sata, kaunda, sikota wina. No chief rose against govnt wen these politicians were once locked up, was it because they were nt tribal?

    • Keep your ignorance tightly to yourself, the people you have mentioned none of them had his house broken, pepper teargassed on private regions, made to sit in dog feaces. So you think the Royal Highnesses could remain in cacoon if any of their sons subjected to this unheard of humiliation? You are something indescribable to say the least.

  10. Clearly, there is nothing uniting and nothing patriotic about this message. By now, I am sure a number of PF proponents who still strive to push the original meaning of PATRIOTIC Front have realised they have a liability in Lungu, not an asset.

Equally chiefs need to tone down because of their divisive actions both ecl and hh are their sons they need to show that they respect not openly siding with one and issuing sentiments the first accusing finger should be firmly pointed at these chiefs it is very wrong for them to act in the way they are

  15. “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I do not expect the Union to be dissolved; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing if the software of integration is restored. There is need to discuss the software of integration, common values and common standards of democracy. Discussing the commonalities of the people and not the differences is what unites Zambians.

  16. Look at dis: who is more divisive? In one region peoples homes who are perceived to hv come frm another region are burnt together with their farms their chiefs and president dont condemn the action. Their so called “president elect” continue calling for violence and misbehaves, when he gets lockedup according to the law again his chiefs and whole region side with him while other regions and chiefs are quiet. Pliz judge fairly.

  17. Lungu is right and he finally said it. It is now official the message came from State House. Zambia is Divided! We knew this all along, and we tolf you so. Lungu has been cheated by his advisers Amos Chanda whose audos linked during the Easter break on how they plannednyo arrest HH and keep him in the ceĺs over the long weekend. And now Lungu has realized the exact notion exhibited by his followers and sympathisers. The no one in the opposition has organised public demonstrations or gathering Zambia is watching and world is silent but following PF move. Didn’t we warn our Zambian voters to watch out for what is coming under Lungu? Didn’t we warn you of division in the country under the pretence of Christianity and National Prayers? If HH REFUSED the invitation to Mong PF would have labelled him anti-social; but looking on this development, PF know how popular HH is nationwide and by dehumanizing him they want to destroy him piece by piece and tell Zambians that Zambia is divided.
You said yourselves and now you can repair the division in the country. He who rules by falsehood will destroy his own people by one stroke of a pen.
Our previous leader’s brought unity and preached peace for ZAMBIA. Today Lungu talks of division oin the they country when the whole world is celebrating Diversity! What a pity, what a shame indeed, Zambia is going backwards. DUNUNA REVERSE

Every time it is just issuing warnings, and hear what a so called president can say! it is shocking to hear the president speak like that. the bastard should know that he is supposed to unite the nation but he speaks as though he is the opposition chap. What is his fear? this just goes to tell us that this lowlife idi0t never won the election.

  20. Pliz i beg to disagree with who ever blames lungu. Why are they failing to condemn their own chiefs? If we look at the whole country, which region produced a divisive vote based on TRIBE? Lets be sincere with our actions and be at peace wthin yoselves. Blame shifting isnt the answer. The president u are condemning is busy developng all corners of the nation. What more do u want him to do? He wont resign until fresh elections in 2021. Simply let yo so called “president” sober up and position himself wel otherwise he might destroy himself with mischief.

  24. Lungu is displaying Leadership failure. As a Head of State Lungu’s responsibility is to Unite ,Reconcile and Heal the Nation after a flawed, disputed and Petitioned Election. There is strength in Unity and Divided we fall. Lungu is taking his Divide and Rule tactics too far. He can not hope to establish his One Man Party Dictatorship in a divided country. Lungu’s predecessors have all tried to promote and uphold our One Zambia One Nation Moto over the years. Lungu should not be allowed to divide the Nation to serve his selfish interest. That is the more Reason why HH should be released unconditionally and the Petition Heard in Court without fail.

It is Lungu who is destroying our Moto of One Zambia One Nation to serve his selfish interest of establishing a One Man Party Dictatorship in Zambia. Lungu must be stopped and release HH unconditional and allow the Petition to be heard in Court.
