Lusaka residents cerebrating Lungu’s re-election

Lusaka Residents have taken to the streets to celebrate the re-election of President Edgar Lungu in the tight August 11 general elections.

President Lungu was declared winner after three days of counting polling 50.3 percent of the votes, meeting the new requirement of 50 percent plus 1 in the amended constitution.

His main challenger Hakainde Hichilema of the opposition UPND who polled 47.6 percent have rejected the results saying they have been rigged by ECZ and the ruling PF.

Following celebrations in the capital after the declaration was made at 2pm local time Political Activist Mwamba Pyane had this to say:

Shame Shame Shame you are celebrating that Edgar Lungu has won. You are celebrating for Edgar Lungu to continue looting with his friends.

You are celebrating to remain poor until you die. You are celebrating to continue begging from Charity organisations across the world. You are celebrating for Poverty to continue, and the number of unemployed people to continue raising.

You are celebrating for poor sanitation, celebrating for poor health and Education sector. You are celebrating for hunger to continue in our Country . You are celebrating for our collapsed economy to remain collapsed.

The biggest losers in this is 15 million Zambians living in poverty and yet Zambia is rich in natural resources. Continue celebrating for Suffering to continue under your visionless leader who is stealing under your noses.

    • That’s what we call being uninformed – u think America has money to throw anyhow to foolish leaders? These infrastructure developments were done through massive loans which have made Zambias loans reach 40% of GOD – THESE are the same loans which IMF advised that the govt should halt – In fact most of these loans are not even being serviced by the Govt.-Wait mune until IMF takes control of the economy your celebrations will turn to misery as all prices will go up when fuel, electricity subsidies are removed the problem with most Zambians is that they are simply uneducated and dull & lack basic understanding of fundamentals and analysis – Edgar & his minions have amassed wealth through these same projects which u are talking about – Chi kw and a his own minister at one time complained that a road in Zambia (km tarmac) costs K1m while in neighboring countries, the same roads cost K 500, 2000-in indeed very easy to win elections in Africa

  6. Lack of education and poverty are like slavery. People lock themselves in a state of perpetual dysfunction. People develop an addiction to suffering and justify their conditions which give them a licence to stay in perpetual poverty.

What is it that people can see in Lungu’s leadership that can inspire them? Nothing.

  9. That UPND and other opposition parties have to petetion is given. Let Concourt condone the stealing of elections for all to see. If Lungu had won after ECZ had responded positively to the rigging allegations then people would have accepted Lungu’s win. The irregularities are too glaring. All the Lusaka constituencies were not given the G12 documents to facilitate the rigging for a reason. The Computer hacking by Samuel Chavula and the stealing of votes in Kanyama and disappearance of the Returning Officer in Ndola stand out as classical rigging tactics. It follows therefore that the 2016 Zambian Elections have been marred with high levels election rigging never seen in Zambia since Independence in 1964. Cry the beloved Zambia.

  10. people are celebrating PF victory because they were wise to elect who ECL took it easy, was honest not to sink so low to promise free things that may not be achievable, while HH was too desperate and over promising. Its the love for free things that has perpetuated poverty in families and the country others work hard while others just relax expecting to receive. Zambians just need to rise and challenge our leaders to provide an enabling environment to participate in production and trade than rely on empty promises like those made by HH

    • Which western country are you talking about? Because in the UK all government schools are free till secondary ? Same as the states. Unless private schools . So free education was and is real . You just have to manage the finances well. $180,000/$200,000 cars really just from kabulonga to mulungushi that is waste . Then they buy the cars for $20,000.

  30. what makes you think HH can fix it when he enriched himself with privatisation money. Why do you think he wants to fight for state house the answer is simple
for his own gain if you think he will get you out of poverty than think again.Understand one thing HH will not control the price of copper on the international market. In short you do not control your own economies. So stop smoking weed and get your facts right.Viva ECL.

  31. WE are all being held captive by the ignorant majority who, together with their visionless leader, they are celebrating insanity for Zambia. Lungu is a self-confessed ignoramus, he has no vision of his own. He is as such, dangerous for Zambia and is malleable enough to become anyhing the wind pushes him into, especially those closest to him. I will not be surprised to see him becoming a dictator because he has no idea on what is best for Zambia.

They dance for a looter who has stolen an election, guess after the sun sets they go back to the scraps from day or sleep on empty stomachs. Whatever is wrong with this country …. docile people, no future minded people.
