Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has disclosed that only two of the 11suspects arrested over ritual murders are of foreign nationalities.

Delivering a Ministerial statement in parliament on Wednesday, Mwila said the soldiers who have been deployed will be withdrawn following the restoration of order in the townships that had taken to rioting over their suspicion of foreign nationals being behind ritual murders.

Mwila said 254 people had been arrested over the riots with some property recovered.

He said that the riots were sparked by a rumour that a Congolese national who had been arrested over a charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace was part of the ritual murder suspects leading to an uproar when he was released.
“We are withdrawing the soldiers tomorrow (Thursday) because the situation is back to normal now,” he said.
Soldiers have been deployed in some townships which were hardest hit by the riots after the police came short of calming the situation.

Mwila said the two people that died during the riots in Kanyama were not foreigners but locals who were brutally beaten.
Zambia has had a forgettable 48 hours that has seen it take the international limelight over attacks on foreigners mostly of Rwandese nationality.

  5. Kabandula, sorry to say your level of thinking is too low to understand the garrisone chain of command. If I were you I would rather keep mute to avoid embarrassing my wife and offsprings. They might turnout to be laughing stocks of the compound. How was mealie meal being smuggled when most of the culprits , including some millers were apprehended? The problem with your type is that you listen to news when it’s finishing.Be reminded that the upside down reading style is way gone. You are just inheriting problems by listening to distorted half baked stories over chibwantu full of mutototo.I have always spelt out the disabilities of belonging to these inferior political groupings like upnd who cannot even capacity build their members apart from dreaming there are in state house.Ng’ombe Ilede for sure.2016 vote for Edga Lungu for a bright posterity ,
