The opposition UPND has refuted the letter being circulated purported to have been authored by the party to it’s defiant Chilanga Member of Parliament Keith Mukata.

Secretary General Stephen Katuka who is alleged to have authored the letter has rubbished it saying it is the work of the enemy of the party.

Below is Katuka’s press statement and the purported letter.

It has come to our attention that some enemies of the party are busy writing and circulating letters purported to have been written by ourselves regarding our MPs not participating in the address and now another one purporting that the party had a disciplinary hearing with a view to charge Chilanga MP Keith Mukata.

As a matter of fact, no such a letter has ever been written by the the UPND Secretariat under the signature of the Secretary General.

We are a civilised party with our own procedures in dealing with issues.

We call on the Police command to immediately institute investigations on the source of these fake letters which are forged.

Forgery is a serious crime in Zambia and we are ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in nabbing and bringing to book whoever is behind these fake letters.

  2. Hon. Mukata should have reflected before isolating himself and betraying his colleagues in the UPND. Surely he should have known that the PF are looking for scapegoats to justify their bid to finish all political opposition. Mr Mukata should know that UPND members of parliament are fighting injustice. It does not matter how long the petition takes the fact is that the law is not being followed in handling the petition. Sorry, Hon. Mukata, but you were wrong not to stand with your colleagues.
