State House has dismissed as baseless allegations by United Party for National Development -UPND- leader, Hakainde Hichilema that President Edgar Lungu has invited witch doctors from Malawi to help him win next year’s presidential elections.
Special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda said in Lusaka today that the President will be going to Kitwe for an extended tour not because he has invited witch doctors to State House.
Mr. Chanda said if the UPND leader wants to invite traditional doctors, he should do it at his own peril without bringing in the name of the President into ridicule.
And Patriotic Front -PF- Deputy Secretary-General, Mumbi Phiri says it is shocking that Mr Hichilema is associating President Lungu with the dark forces when the head of State has made it clear that he is a Christian.
Mrs. Phiri also challenged Mr. Hichilema to tell the nation whether he is a Christian or not after the opposition leader wrote to President Lungu requesting him to cancel the national day of repentance, prayer and fasting observed by multitudes of people on
She said President Lungu’s faith is well known unlike Mr Hichilema who allegedly opposes everything of God.
Meanwhile PF media and publicity committee vice chairperson Sunday Chanda said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that recent attacks on President Lungu on major faith-based pronouncements by Mr Hichilema are unfortunate.
Mr Chanda said the attendance of former Presidents Kenneth Kaunda and
Rupiah Banda showed that the events were important.
Mr Hichilema was quoted in the media as alleging that President Lungu has invited three Malawian witch doctors to help him win the 2016 tripartite elections, and that his planned working visit to Kitwe is meant to allow the said witch doctors perform their task – ZNBC
