Chipolopolo and Nkwazi forward Justin Shonga has signed for South African giants Orlando Pirates for an undisclosed fee.

The young attacker will hope to emulate the likes of Dennis Lota, Isaac Chansa, Perry Mutapa and Collins Mbesuma whose exploits at the Soweto giants remain legendary.

The Nkwazi sharp shooter says he would like to emulate the achievements of his fellow Zambians at the Premier Soccer League side.

The Buccaneers have confirmed the capture of the 25-year-old striker after hinting at the deal at their Ford sponsorship announcement on Tuesday.

Shonga told the club’s website, according to kickoff.com: “I am happy to be here. This is the right move for my career and my ambitions. I would like to emulate other Zambian players who have done well at the club such as Perry Mutapa and Isaac Chansa.”

Shonga, who will wear jersey number 27 for the Bucs, was formerly with Nkwazi FC in the FAZ/MTN Super League.

The Chipolopolo international’s arrival at Mayfair will help ease the pressure on Thamsanqa Gabuza following Tendai Ndoro’s move to Saudi outfit Al Faisaly in August.
