Sakala’s ZDDM to contest Kasenengwa asks for PF support

Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) president Edwin Sakala has declared interest to contest the Kasenengwa parliamentary seat following the death of area Member of Parliament Victoria Kalima.

Mr Sakala says he has since appealed to President Edgar Lungu and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to consider not filling a candidate saying they should instead support his candidature.

Mr Sakala said in an interview with Feel Free radio in Chipata that the ZDDM has been supporting the PF since 2015 saying there is need for the ruling party to return the favour by supporting his candidature.

The ZDDM president says he has been working with the PF and understands its policies and can continue with the developmental projects left by the late area MP.

He also urged the opposition to support his candidature saying he will serve the interests of both the ruling party and the opposition.
Mr Sakala says he does not want to serve partisan interests but national interests to take development to the constituency.

Meanwhile, Mr Sakala says he is saddened by the death of Ms Kalima who he said diligently served the people of Kasenengwa.

The ZDDM leader has also commended President Edgar Lungu for according the late parliamentarian who also served as Minister of Gender a state funeral.

Boss it is too early the minister is still in the mortuary and you are already talking about replacing her, pliz respect her by not discussing such issues when she is not yet buried. any one could tell through your talking that you needed support from the ruling party, pliz its up to the party to decide and i think they have pipo within the party who can do better than you. Sir just stand on your own as you claim to be popular.
