President Sata in Livingstone for closure of UNWTO Conference. President Michael Sata has arrived in Zambia’s Tourism capital Livingstone, ahead of the official closing ceremony of the United Nations World Tourism General Assembly.
The President is expected to lead delegates including his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe in closing the conference which officially opened on Sunday August 25.
The closing ceremony will take place in Livingstone while the opening ceremony was in the Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe.
The 20th UNWTO conference which is being co hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe has been described as the most attended in the organisation’s history.
Meanwhile delegates to the on going UNWTO were this morning treated to historic moment as they were given a chance to view the victoria falls national heritage site in Zambia and the victoria falls bridge bordering the two countries.
The delegates who converged at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, toured the victoria falls bridge which is home to the Livingstone bungee jump.
The delegates were also taken on a guided tour by the Heritage Commission of Zambia.
