The State has turned the heat on CEC Liquid Telecom over alleged phone tapping.

On Tuesday, a combined team of police and officers from the Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) raided CEC Liquid Telecom offices in Lusaka’s Longacres area in search of phone tapping equipment.

The move comes in the wake of a leaked telephone conversation between President Edgar Lungu’s press aide Amos Chanda and Inspector General of police Kakoma Kanganja in which Chanda is heard instructing the police chief to use force when dealing with opposition political party supporters.

The said recording went viral on social media.
