The opposition UPND has accused the Zambia Police of planning to launch a late night raid at their President Hakainde Hichilema’s residence in a bid to arrest him for unknown reasons.
UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka in statement alleged that state police attempted to conduct a raid at HH’s New Kasama residence to arrest their leader.
“I would like to inform the general party membership and the nation that UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and his family are safe and secure at their New Kasama residence,” Mucheleka said today.
“This is despite alleged attempts by state police to conduct another late night raid on his residence to arrest him for unknown reasons.”
Mucheleka says party officials are on high alert and will inform the nation of any new developments.
“I would like to commend the members led by Lusaka Provincial Chairman Hon Obvious Mwaliteta who rushed to the residence in the night and have remained vigil until this moment.
“I appeal to the nation to remain calm as we remain ready to defend and protect the president against any forms of political and state intimidation and victimisation.
“The nation and the party in particular will be kept informed of any latest development,” he said.

  1. No one is arrested with no reasons if HH is offending he should be arrested like any one else .
There are so many politicians in zambia including CK the law only follow those who play with it .
What zambians must know is that there is only one govt headed by EL and every zambian is under him that is the plain truth .
EL is there to protect every citizen including HH just as he protects evey zambian.

    • Myopic backward thinking which does not reflect the truth or provide intellectual moral and legal guidance.

    • Inshilimubemba! Dont pretend not to know that history has proved that in the past, people have been arrested on trumped up charges. They were kept in prisons on fake charges to satisfy one man’s desire. Are lawyers not educated enough not to know this? Its clear someone influence justice!! Therefore, this someone is playing games with the laws.

    • Oftentimes, we are what we say, and such kind of level of thinking just goes to show the kind of person behind. It’s high time people grew up, and live above petty tribal aspects that only divide people and deprive the nation of unity and proactive forward thinking that could help bring about development.

  3. The police have a duty to maintain law and order in the nation .
All of us citizerns also have a duty to promote peace and harmony in the nation.
Anyone who makes statements or pronouncements likely to cause the breach of peace in the nation must know that the police will one day take action .
If it is true that the police were to visit the opposition leader then I think there should no worry by himself and the supporters if he is innocent.
Cadres must not therefore complicate things by daring the police because the police have a legal mandate to carry out their duty whereas cadres have no such mandate .

    • Thinking based on cadre mentality, which tends to ignore the reality of what’s on the ground, where we came from as a nation and where we seem to be heading to.

Anyway, time for reckoning will come one day, when such cadres supporting victimization of others and abusing power and national resources will come to terms with reality.

  6. Should the nation know the reason for arresting HH. Why is it that its HH always, does it mean these other opposition parties do not say bad things about ECL or PF? The likes of Kambwili, Kalaba etc, why dont we hear that the police want to raid their houses at night to arrest them. This shows that ECL is more troubled in mind by HH or he fears that he is the only person who can defeat him. We are tired of “Arresting HH” story everyday. Bengi aba opposition kakakeniko bambi. Ici cilelanga ukuti HH emwaume eka ewo batina ba Edgar Lungu mu Zambia elo baishiba neco bamutinina. Nga ba Lungu baume abankonko nabamuleke HH ukufika nakumpela tumone uukapia. Not ifyakwebati lyonse arrest HH, thats fear of the fearless. PF Die Hard in Ndola.

  7. There are alot of citizenz who get arrested for committing various crimes bt the nation is nt being informed abt them. Why then does the writer want to keep the nation informed if one citizen hh is arrested or nt? Is it nt jst a family affair? Let the author redirect his article to hh’s family members nt the nation.
