Police Officer goes in for 7 years motor vehicle theft

A police officer of Kobya village chief Makuliba in Senanga district has been sentenced to 7 years and 10 months imprisonment on two counts with hard labour.

Appearing before Principle Resident Magistrate Exonobit Zulu in choma, Chomba Jade Mulenga 27, was charged with theft of motor vehicle contrary to section 28A(1)(a) of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that the accused on the 4th of July 2016 in Choma district, Southern province did steal a Toyota Collora REG no ALB 1960 valued at 15,000 property belonging to Damiano Mulenga.

In the second count Mulenga was charged on desertion contrary to section 26(1) (d)(2)(3)of the police act chapter 107 of the laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on 8th July 2016 in Choma, jade Mulenga being a police officer under protective unit did absent himself from duty.

He denied the first count and pleaded guilty to the second count.
