Nawakwi with her running mate Rev. Mwanza

Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development- FDD risks disqualification in this year’s Presidential race, a source has revealed.

The FDD leader Edith Nawakwi may face disqualification from the presidential race in this Augusts’ general elections should it be proved that her running mate Dr Rev Clement Mwanza‘s qualifications are below ECZ’s requirements

This has come in the wake of a revelation which was recently unearthed that Rev Mwanza couldn’t file in his first bid as Parliamentary Candidate and FDD’s ticket I Msanzala because his qualifications were rejected by the District Electoral Officer.

But Rev Mwanza has refused the assertions that his documents were rejected in Petauke but admitted that he failed his first bid to file in as the Parliamentary Candidate for Msanzala because he didn’t present the original copy of his National Registration Card.

Boyd Miti, the Petauke District Council Secretary has confirmed that Rev Mwanza initially attempted to file in for Msanzala race to Manda Hill but his academic qualifications were rejected because it was incomplete.

During FDD’s Presidential filling, Nawakwi stormed the nomination centre with Mwanza who was seemly a stranger to even party structures. When presenting his credentials before Deputy Director of Elections, Mwanza delayed the process as his Documents were not complete. It was after Nawakwi asked for an audience with the Chairperson of the ECZ, Hon Justice Esau Chulu that’s when FDD managed to file in.

  1. Edith, throw in the towel, put on your boots and go and campaign for UPND. At least that way, you will be useful in this election. You made a mistake by copying HH who always had a running mate but didn’t just announce. You can’t choose a running mate on filing day. Even if the qualifications for that unknown Reverend are genuine, there’s something seriously wrong with him as he always forgets his original qualifications during filing in. Can he be ready to takeover from you in the event that you are head of state and you are incapacitated? Or he could be forgetting time and again that he is head of state? Forgetting as if it is Chagwa who drinks too much?

    • This dilemma will not just affect Madam Nawakwi but might extend to HH.GBM’s qualifications are highly contestable particularly that he chose very technical Advanced Diploma in Finance and Business Management.GBM has no clue as to the ABC of Bookkeeping and let alone Financial Management in its technical form.Should anybody decide to investigate this Diploma, the results will be disastrous to the continued candidature of HH.By the way, which College or University did GBM ATTEND AND IN WHICH YEAR?

  6. Wonder why Zambians spend so much time arguing over negatives and trivial things. Leadership is about looking after and serving people. Wouldn’t it be helpful if we concentrated on how many employees one should have to qualify? I know a number of very wise and highly successful persons who could not complete school not because of dullness but poor economic background. And yet these have employed more people than those who only have a G12, certificate, Diploma, Degree, Masters or PhD to their name. Be careful with the current crop of politicians who suggest things in bad Faith in order to deceive. If we want to make progress, we need to learn to question everything our leaders suggest, even when they seem sincere. That is the only way to prove their intentions.

  8. I see this risk of disqualification extending to HH. I thought papers are first checked by ECZ who issue the certificate for certification and then presented to the electoral officer. In GBMs’ case and other candidates papers were presented to the electoral office on the nomination day. Leaving no time for proper verification. This will catch up with GBM with his bought qualifications. It’s easy to buy qualifications online just for a few dollars more.
