At the time of his death, Steve B whose real names are Steve Nsomekela aged 29 of Silverest was being investigated in a case he was suspected to have raped a woman at gun point while in Police uniform.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo in a statement revealed that the suspect was also a police reserve.

Ms. Katongo says police officers were investigating a case in which a woman reported that she was raped in a car by a man in police uniform at gun point in his vehicle but managed to grab some documents from the vehicle without the suspect noticing that were then presented to police.

Ms. Katongo says investigations led to the deceased who was apprehended and officers recovered a pistol and some police uniforms at his house.

She says the suspect attempted to jump over the wall fence at the time he was shot in the hip before his death and his body is in the UTH mortuary.

  1. You have to explain clearly, because there more questions than answers.
You said he was a police reserve,
Police Reserve don’t use police uniforms?
When a suspect runs from police officers, is it in line with police orders to kill the suspect instantly?
Was the suspect armed when he was running away from the police?

  3. Police State under Dictator Lungu indeed. And when HH is fighting to restore your basic human rights and dignity, you redicule him. Zambians, you are the most despicable docile people in the world. I would not sacrifice anything for a Zambian even if I found him/her lying critically injured by the roadside….I would probably drive over him/her, just to get one pathetic human being out of the equation. How does a trained officer shot un-armed person for fleeing from the police. Offenders’ or criminals’ first instinct is to flee when confronted by the police, but that doesnt justify the action taken by the police. The fact that this person was known by the police and was in fact a police reserve makes matters worse. This purely a case of murder and that policeman must be arrested.

  5. This pure murder every person deserves the right to be heard by the courts of law. shooting a suspect is really disturbing no way! okay let us thing about the possibilities this way, What if
1.this person killed is a drug dealer and was afraid of police for indulging in drugs dealings?
2.what if the same police officer who killed the musician is the one who raped this woman while driving the musician`s car? because people drive other people`s cars.or what if this officer and the guy shared the same habit together while on duty now for fear of being exposed he killed him?
3.Does it mean this officer killed the guy to end the case once and for all?
4.police has forensic department do they have existing test results to show that for sure Steve was the one who raped the woman? because they had sex both should have been injured in the process because the woman was not prepared for sex and the guy too ejaculated the semens and sperms and the hair DNA should have corresponded to that of the gunned guy.
5.What if this guy just left the documents in this car a long time when they were both patrolling? and never collected them ?
    6. Was steve the only Male police Reserve in lusaka and do police reserves put on the same uniform as the normal police officers.
7.if this gun was found in his house, how many woman did he rape and report the matter?
8.why did the police service allow such a person to work as a police reserve only to endanger his life and the life of other citizens because i wonder if true how man people he had to rob for money on guy point if he could easily use a gun for casual sex when there are whores out there. who is to blame?
i think there is need for serious investigations.

  6. This story has gaps which makes it difficult to understand. If the officers apprehended him, how did he attempt to flee? How was he apprehended without securing him with handcuffs?
