Mulenga Sata U-turns on decision to quit politics, rejoins PF

Former Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata has rejoined the ruling Patriotic Front (PF), barely a month after announcing his retirement from active politics.

Last month, Mulenga announced that he was leaving politics to focus on farming but has u-turned on his decision and is currently being welcomed at the party’s secretariat in Lusaka.

Mulenga, the eldest of late President Michael Sata’s children, stunned the country when he resigned from his position as State House Deputy Minister and defected to the opposition UPND in the run up to the 2016 general elections.

He however lost his bid for the Kabwata parliamentary seat and took a low profile since then.

There is speculation that he has been offered a diplomatic job or may join the race for Lusaka Mayor, a position he once held.
