Mugabe is in Lusaka to attend the inauguration of Lungu

Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe has arrived in Lusaka for the inauguration of Edgar Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina slated for Heroes Stadium in the capital.

President elect Edgar Lungu will be sworn as republican president along with his running mate Inonge Wina as Vice President.

President Mugube landed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 5pm today, September 12, 2016 ahead of the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday.

Speaking on arrival, President Mugabe congratulated Lungu and said he will have a peaceful five year term. He said Zambia and his country were twins saying whatever happens in one affects the other.

President Mugabe has maintained close ties with the Patriotic Front leadership dating from the time of late president and party founder Michael Sata.

Another ally of Lungu expected to attend his inauguration is Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni. He is expected to fly in on Tuesday morning.

Other dignitaries who arrived today include two Vice presidents of Malawi and Tanzania.

Speaking to Journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport Vice President of Malawi Saulos Chilima said the presence of Malawi at the inauguration signifies the warm relationship the two neighbouring countries enjoy.

Mr. Chilima further said Malawi’s attendance of President Lungu’s the inauguration ceremony will strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Tanzanian Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan was welcomed by Sports Permanent Secretary Agnes Musunga.

Zambia will for the first time in her history swear in a President and Vice President arising from the running mate system.

President Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina won the August 11 presidential elections after polling over 1.8 million votes against 1.7 million plus votes for closest rival Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) who has disputed the results.

Why is everyone a coward in zed, allow a single drunkard/ novice to rape our constitution in broad day light? He will start killing you one by one that’s when you will wake up. 6. It is really embarassing for old men such as Mugabe and Museveni to rush to Zambia leaving their beleagured states groaning with instability to come and witness an illegality. The thing that worries us is the extent to which Zambians have become oblivious to wrong doing. Morality is gone forever! They know that Lungu did not win these elections yet they are happily going to go for his inauguration, approving, in a way, the rottenness of our society. What Lungu, his state house staff, ECZ and the nicely oiled judges did by conniving to steal UPND’s votes is treasonable. God is not happy with this at all. TO IMAGINE THAT LUNGU CAN, WITH IMPUNITY OCCUPY A CHAIR THAT DOESN’T BELONG TO HIM SMELLS OF A SERIOUSLY BESERK MAN. Stop drinking TUJILIJILI NAMA JAMESON so that your brain starts functioning properly. YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED, MR LUNGU AND YOUR TEAM! We can bet on that. Anger against what you did is too high in the country.

  9. The leval of bitterness is too high on the side of upnd & hh please lets jst accept there can only b 1 winner. I supported upnd bt the bitterness is too high, once beattern twice shy we shd do introspection in our part instead of crying every time we have elections. Lets leave room for dissapointment so that we do not get dissapointed & hate. introspection, introspection, introspection is the key to our part. God bless Zambia.

    • It is not bitterness from UPND, it is disappointment. Even you must be ashamed of yourself when you look at the quality of presidents who have rushed to the inauguration of Lungu, so questionable. PF is a let down. God help us as we divide the so called Zambia into NER and NWR. This process has begun.

  10. Mugabe and Mu7 are very much welcome to Zambia becoz they have played a crucial role in rescuing Lungu and PF from electoral defeat. Mugabe is here to celebrate electoral theft with Lungu. Mugabe and Mu7 are bad omen for Lungu as he starts his war of illegitimacy. Very soon the Zambian economy will collapse just like the Zimbabwean economy without external Aid. Mugabe and Mu7 can give political solidarity to Lungu but they can’t financially bail him out. After stealing these elections Lungu’s troubles have just begun. Wait and see.
