Emmerson Mnangagwa

New Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa who came into power with the help of the military has been barred from attending the Africa Union Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

Reports reaching the Zambian Eye is that Mnagagwa will sit in the gallery not with other head of states.

The AU says Mnangagwa cannot sit with elected heads of state since he is a product of a coup. Howver they agreed that he attends the summit as an observer.

Last week Robert Mugabe gave a series of interviews to foreign media where he vehemently charged that Mnangagwa was illigaly in the seat. Mugabe said he was forced out of the office by Soldiers to pave way for Mnangagwa.

Mugabe 94 said there is need to correct what has happened in Zimbabwe where Soldiers have taken over against the constitution. He charged that Zimbabwe needs to return to constitutionalism.

  1. IF this story is true (I have my doubts), the AU is truly full of shit. There are so many despots and dictators in Africa, who have never had a free or fair election and they are fully aware of this and don’t do jack. Because it would mean most head of states would need to go.
So why make distinctions now of what is a coup? What is the difference between this coup and the voter intimidation, ballot box rigging, and killing of opposition that many African ‘leaders’ resort to?

  3. This is a false story. When did the AU ban even those that took power even in bloody coups?

  5. This can be an interesting story , yes indeed Mugabe over stayed in power though his removal came in such away however,it was good for his own life and country , usually what comes about in the laws put up can be challenging therefore needs brain storming .
To my thinking the old man was stearing the country into a wrong direction, his removal may not be illegal since his party came in to recall him back to where he was endorsed to president of their party,to which his party agreed to that they remove him as he became irrelevant to their vision .
