Nevers Mumba

MMD National Secretary Reverend Reuben Sambo has said there is no paragraph or sentence in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UPND and MMD stating that a position of Prime Minister would be created and offered to MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba should the UPND form government after the August 2016 election.

Dismissing a report carried in the Daily Nation of Tuesday 19 July 2016 that MMD President Dr Nevers Mumba will be appointed Prime Minister, Reverend Sambo said while it is public knowledge that the UPND and MMD publicly signed a Memorandum of Understanding and entered into a strategic electoral alliance on 26th May, 2016 at the Chainama Hotel, not 25th May as claimed in the Daily Nation, the details of the alliance have yet to be finalized as the urgent matter for the alliance partners was to focus on delivering their message to the electorate evidenced by the on-going successful cross-country campaigns being conducted at all levels.

He said the details of the MoU are yet to be conclusively agreed and therefore any rumours on the matter are mere speculation meant to detract the alliance partners from the ongoing successful campaign.

Reverend Sambo said Dr. Mumba’s MoU speech is available and attached hereto for ease of reference and said in the speech Dr. Mumba was extremely categorical that he was not looking for a position but delivering the country from a weak, irresponsible and mediocre leadership and urged Zambians to seek for premier leadership to restore good governance, the rule of law and the once vibrant economy.

  2. Even if such an agreement was there, it wouldn’t hurt Zambia. So why are they worrying as though nevers Mumba would be bad for that position?

  4. It appears as though prison sentence has not taught Mr. Richard Sakala any lessons. I used to buy the Nation thinking that Mr Sakala has reformed from any mischief and and criminal activities. But now it seems that Mr. Sakala continues his mischief with impunity. I am saying this because I saw this headline in his paper. To me this paper the Nation has taken characteristics of its owner. Therefore I do not buy it since it is not a serious and professional paper.
