Former Youth, Sports and Child Development Deputy Minister Stephen Masumba has been detained in Kitwe after firing in the air with a pistol at a public place on New Year eve in Kitwe, on the Copperbelt.

Masumba has been remanded though he has not yet been charged. Police Acting Commissioner for Copperbelt province Joyce Kasoso confirmed the development saying Police was still investigating what lead Masumba to fire in the air at a public place.

Masumba who is also Member of Parliament for Mufumbwe constituency was recently convicted by the Magistrate court for forging a National Institute of Public Administration Accounts certificate. He has however appealed against the verdict in the High court.

  2. We are not surprised. Masumba is endowed by a set of characteristics that are 100% accommodated in the PF. How on Earth would the PF Party maintain Masumba’s membership, a crook whom the Courts found to be guilt of forgery?

It seems most PF members thrive well by demonstrating traits of cruelty (Sata’s Body Guard), deception, forgery of certificates (for Masumba to earn a Ministerial post), forgery of illegal documents in Zambian Courts (for Mutembo Nchito to earn post of DPP). Congrats to Masumba as it pays for being a PF cadre!

What will the Catholic Bishops who supported the PF to the hilt tell us about the morality of the men they sponsored to run the Govt? Where is Bishop Mpundu, in particular, hiding?

  3. This behavior is very un Zambian. An MP displaying his muscle in that manner sure, where are we hearding to in 2014 since these acts were the order of the day in 2013? If I were a Mufumbwe resident and elections came, No Vote from me to such a group or any close or associate.
