Opposition Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Tembo has called on President Lungu to immediately withdraw his “ubomba mwibala alya mwibala” statement, on grounds that it is an irresponsible statement that should not come from a Head of State.

During a fundraising dinner in Kitwe on Saturday night for the construction of the PF convention centre, President Lungu told party functionaries, sympathisers and some government officials present that “ubomba mwibala alya mwibala…but tabatila kulya nembuto kumo” which could be construed to mean “you are free to enrich yourselves from public resources but do not finish everything.”

  1. Was he serious when he was asking Controlling officers to help him safe guard national resources? Fish starts rotting from the head so is pf.

  2. I think people are being oversensitive because nearly every one aspiring for political standing always thinks of getting the lions shares of the economy. I look at the statement of Lungu of ubomba mwibala alya mwibala having been taken out of contest. True of the fact that I dont think of any political party employing any other person out of its rank and file. Never. Even HH himself cannot do it.
I look at Lungu saying before looking externally he or PF should have exhausted its own. For any political party to consider any one outside its ranks, it must not be in possession of such skills within itself. This is self explanatory.

  3. Sean – Leave it to the Bembas to make the interpretation. Why is it that the non-Bembas are the ones in the forefront of “mis”-interpreting this idiom?
