Lungu is using Govt to get at those he has differed with – Kambwili

Chishimba Kambwili

I’m as clean as Dr. Kaunda’s handkerchief, charged Former Minister of Information Chishimba Kambwili.

Speaking to Journalists today, May 18, 2017 after being interrogated by the Anti-Corruption Commission for being in possession of properties more than what his income, Kambwili said it is sad that President Edgar Lungu is using law enforcement agencies to harass those he has differed with.

And Kambwili complained that it is sad that he has to be subjected to such interrogation after having campaigned with all his heart for President Lungu and PF.

Kambwili has described the corruption allegations as bogus.

He has however explained that the discourse with the ACC officers was good and that he gave them much information adding that it now remains upon them to make a decision.

“They were asking about my cars, they were asking about my houses and I gave them all the information that they wanted unfortunately, they were even asking for properties that I don’t know myself that belongs to me so we shocked with my counsel to find out that some of the properties they were mentioning in Lusaka, Ndola is not my property and I don’t even know those properties,” Kambwili explained. “But I think it leaves much to be desired with our kind of politics in Zambia that if politically you differ, you want to use the arm of the law to fix others. That is not the way it should be. We must learn to be honest with one another. If you don’t want to work with somebody, you just tell them that I don’t to work with you other than bringing in other arms of government to try to intimidate those you don’t like.”

Kambwili charged that intimidating of opponents must come to an end. He is people in Zambia must learn to be honest like he is.

“I have been honest, I have built my reputation over a long period of time and I can tell you that I have left government as a clean manand nobody will point at me.

Kamwili however admitted that there is corruption in the country.

“And for your own information, yes there is corruption everywhere, on the street, in government and those who are corrupt know themselves and when their time comes to answer, they will answer,” he warned.

He added: “but it is very unfortunate to point at clean men like me, very clean politically, economically very clean that there are corrupt.”

The Roan PF Lawmaker says he was surprised that President Lungu had announced that he was going to fire corrupt Ministers and he is only being summoned six months later.

“I was waiting all these six months to see which other Ministers were going to join being fired for being corrupt I’m shocked that upto now there is only Chishimba Kambwili who was being suspected of being corrupt but I will leave it to the anti-corruption to analyse the information we have given them and get back to the country to tell them whether I am corrupt or not but I can rest assure you that am as clean as Dr. Kaunda’s handkerchief,” he said.

Kambwili said he informed the Anti-Corruption aside from him working in government he has been in business for a long time. He said he told the ACC officers to check with companies especially the mines that he does business with what he makes.

Kambwili complained that it is sad that he has to be subjected to such interrogation after having campaigned with all his heart for President Lungu and PF.

“I have left government, I have done my best in government. I campaigned for President Lungu with all my heart but if campaigning for somebody with all your heart is a sin then only God will judge us,” complained Kambwili who is also a member of the PF Central Committee.

  6. ECL is not responsible for your predicament, but you are. An issue here is that you Kambwili are one of the pioneers of tribal politics in Zambia. You used your political muscle to culture ethnic divisive talk on print and electronic media. Admit that you have been arrogant. Equally introspect that you have wrongly TRANSLATED your pride for Frankness. ECL is just doing what you did to others. I am encouraging you become spiritually baptised (Born Again) and say this prayer “Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. But from today onwards, I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose on the Third Day and I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour. Amen!.” The only way to destroy that demon of PRIDE in you is by accepting “Jesus the Anointed “. Being smart is being humble. Take my words, I was once like you but not anymore.

  7. Our political leaders lack international exposure of how things work. Police training needs more than just six months. Also poverty is the major. Here in United States it’s practically impossible to corrupt a police officer or a judge. For example troopers(traffic) don’t handle money like our traffic officers does but just issue ticket for your offense. You pay else where or in court.
There is no separation and independence of government organs in Zambia. So it’s the president can’t be challenged by anyone. That’s dictatorship. But in western countries presidents are politically and mentally challenged.Presidents and ministers who are honest, transparent and corruption-free fears nothing to be challenged and allow people to know about what are doing for the country.
Because corruption virus is our blood and especially to those in gvnt then its possible to suspect even the genuine business -minded and action oriented as corrupt.
We need a president with vigor to disciple his working team even before they are fired just as was in Kaunda and Mwanawasa(sharp).

  8. No one can feel sorry for the architects of tribalism in our country. We were one Zambia one nation at one time, but whenkambwili and the likes came, we now know that Bemba, Chewa, Tonga Lozi are not One nation.
I pray the ACC charge him (Kambwili) not only with corruption but tribalism also, because under PF that’s treasonable.

  10. You trivialized other tribes and mistreated your opponents but now it’s your turn to be on the receiving end. It is never enjoyable to receive the mud that you once threw at your colleagues. Remember to be humble all the time. God keeps watching every move. Now you are getting what you sew.

  11. CK is now feeling the Pressure. When UPND Leaders were complaining about Lungu’s abuse of State Institutions to punish his opponents CK did not understand what they meant becoz he was enjoying Lungu’s Protection. Lungu has destroyed all Institutions of Governance like ECZ, ZPS ,Concourt ,High Court, the Army etc to establish his own One Man Party Dictatorship in Zambia and Rule Zambia with an Iron Fist forever. With Domestic and international pressure Lungu’s project could suffer a still birth. The EU and USA control the Voting Power at the IMF Board so Lungu and Mutati can forget about an IMF Loan or Western Donor Aid. Zimbabwe has been under Sanctions for decades so Let Lungu phone Mugabe and he will be told the implications of being put under Economic,Financial and Travel Sanctions. The Zambian Economy is too fragile to withstand International Sanctions. Lungu should Release HH unconditionally and allow the Court to Hear the Petition and declare the Winner of the 2016 Election duly elected. Lungu should stop entertaining the thought of keeping HH in Jail for months hoping that he will force him to withdraw the Petition from the Court and that the Petitioners would recognize him as a Legitimate President when he stole their Election Victory. AU and SADC should facilitate the Election Petition Hearing and leave the Court to declare the Winner of the 2016 Election duly elected President of Zambia. Both Lungu and HH should undertake to abide by the Verdict of the Impartial Court. After that Zambia will be at peace and move on so the Person chosen during the 2016 can govern Zambia with the People’s mandate.

    • You hit the nail on the head. Lack of informationa and l exposure.
      When you join politics nikudyelapo.
GBM was saying he joined politics for business. Do you expect the country to develop.
Lungu the reason is there is to benefit. If you differ with him, you become a threat.
Zambians who claim to be Christians you don’t realize up to now that have never been governed by a Christian person. If you were praying true God , God would have answered your prayers, but you always bow to Demi-gods.

  13. My advice to CK is dat you shld learn frm given lubinda who was once targeted wrongly bt bcoz he knew he was innocent he never uttered any rubbish bt remained quiet till God fought for him. Another example is dat of gbm, guy scott and daniel munkombwe, u can choose which one to emulate.
