Live: UPND wants to put the country on fire – Lungu

President Edgar Lungu has revealed that the opposition UPND wants to bring anarchy in the country by rioting to pressure him to released the opposition party’s president Hakainde Hichilema.

Hichilema or HH as he is fondly called has been arrested and charged with treason which carries death sentence if convicted. Following HH’s arrest, there have been pockets of riots in the provinces where he commands more support but on Friday night the riots spread to Lusaka’s Mandevu and Kanyama townships.

But President Lungu who by press time was addressing Mbala a public rally in Mbala warned that he will arrest and throw to prisons those rioting.

President Lungu also vowed that he will not be pressured to release HH who has not yet been convicted. He said will leave the law to take it’s course.

He has also warned Diplomats to stay away from commenting on internal issues of sovereignty country.

“All criminal suspects will face full force of the law and the law is blind to social status.

I won’t interfere with the UPND leader’s case because no law allows me to do so. His case will go to the DPP for consideration for consent to prosecute.

All diplomats accredited to Zambia and NGOs trying to force me to intervene in this case are wasting their time and I want to caution that they keep away from interfering with the due process of the law.

I have no issues with the UPND and so even the so called dialogue with them is neither here nor there! Elections are over and the statutes governing elections determine how to win and that is over. I can discuss national issues that merit not a court case that has not been determined!”

  2. Truly, if anarchy were erupt today, Edgar Lungu and minions can never be able to contain it.He banks his power and energy in the police who cannot even fight a full scale war. Those policemen he has entrusted power to be killing innocent people, whoever is perceived to be a supporter of the opposition are only good at fighting unarmed, defenseless citizens but cannot engage in fighting in a full scale war. He is the one who is sowing seeds of war, divisions in order to bring anarchy in the country. After all, we can govern ourselves. We do not need Lungu and his minions who have already shown their true colours that they do not need the unity of this country to prevail and succeed. He has surrounded himself with men and women who lack substance in their heads and cannot even give suitable advice on the proper norms of good governance. So why does he want to accuse the UPND of the vice ? He stole the votes by using his crookedness with his PF thugs in government. Does he think people are so blind such that they cannot see what’ s happening? He is a fake president he lacks good morals.

  7. Killing HH won’t make any change in the minds of all well meaning zambians it will just intesify the fight for justice over the stollen votes . We knew this treason charges long before this motorcade issue that does not even surmount to a treason change .The fact is motorcade issue is being used as a shield .The main issue is recognition and the pertition which you don’t want exhausted for fear that you will be convincted (lungu). We know power is sweet but adhere to the constitution and the rule of law and gain you respect .Treason was committed by you (lung) when you refused to hand over the instruments of power to the national assembly speaker to facilitate a smooth inquest in the rigged august 11 elections .As you stand sir (lungu) you also have a treason case .Thus why cage your friend . If it is KK cheating you he will go to his grave a sad man .He killed many people quietly but he shouln’t drag you in an abyss of self destruction for selfish motives . The zambia of KK and today are distinct .Kill HH today or anyother day .You will equally pay for it dearly .

  11. Evil and hatred against those that are seeking justice will never triumph. I wonder what a Cristian nation zambia is. We are in a Lenten period and easter period where as christians we are to exercise more tolerant and penance. What we seee now is worst especially among our political leaders who even show hate against each other than whwt the devil can himself the owner of all evil deeds. PF and rulling party are more in hating the other group. I hope the president of zambia will one day be a genuine christian in his deeds, body and soul. God is watching.

  14. Chilembwe of chilembwe uprising (Nyasaland) Malawi said when they were fighting the Whites,
“Strike a blow and die”. It does not matter what ever an opponent holds can kill the armed policeman. After all police have not bought guns to terrorizing citizen. These are thugs.

  15. Lungu’s stance correct based on all principles of good governance. If this country was to go up in flames, the fault should lie squarely on HH. His behaviour before and after the elections clearly indicate that his sole agenda is to bring chaos upon Zambia. What most zambians don’t know is that even if he had won the elections, he would have pushed this nation into amergedon. Zambians get on your knees and begin praying for this nation because forces of evil are at work in this scenario

  17. Talk about inciting violence! That’s what lungu is doing. Then he wants to blame HH for it. He keeps talking about the law when he knows fully well that the police, army and judges are all working under his instructions because he made sure he put his own Thugs in charge of ministry of defence, home affairs and justice. Defence and home affairs ministers…what more can I say? They got rewarded for attempted murder and murder, with cabinet positions. No wonder the army and police feel that they can treat Zambian citizens like animals and get away with it. Lungu going around blaming HH (and pretending that law exists in Zambia)is just infuriating the majority of Zambians who can’t stand him. What a way to celebrate Easter. Maybe not too surprising actually, because it’s well known that Lungu pretends when it comes to matters of religion. It’s Malawian gods he believes in right? If you want to pardon someone, just do it quietly. And another thing…instead of useless rallies, can you work hard and bring prices down for the suffering Zambians who are struggling to pay for their electricity bills and can’t afford to have three meals a day? Don’t blame HH for your failure.
