Lafarge Zambia’s retail franchise network is now Bonastore. The retail franchise, initially Kumanga, has been rebranded Bonastore, making it a part of an international retail chain. This franchise network will cover the entire Middle East and Africa region. Bonastore’s mission is to take building supplies & solutions to the people. Locally, this will include products such as cement, brick force wire, tile fix, steel rods, termite control and black plastic with additional product lines being made available according to the needs of the particular market.
Speaking at the launch, Wednesday, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Lafarge Chief Executive Officer, Vincent Bouckaert said that Bonastore’s objective was to develop new experiences for end users, create jobs as well as develop entrepreneurs in the building industry.

“This development will be in cities with affiliate stores and in rural areas with the container model. Through this initiative, we hope to create a new exclusive channel that consists of 90 container stores and 110 brick and mortar affiliation stores by 2021. Our target is to create over 400 jobs through this channel. In helping the stores and franchisees to develop their business, we will in turn, further create jobs resulting in the development of our country” he said.

Officially launching the retail chain, the Minister of Finance Hon., Felix Mutati, MP, said he was happy to see Lafarge working on complementing Government’s efforts aimed at creating jobs and promoting an entrepreneurial mind-set among the citizenry. He further implored everyone, especially the youth, to take advantage of the opportunity the international LafargeHolcim retail chain presents in developing their business skills as well as transfer of best practices and knowledge from the other countries where Bonastore is present.

“As Government we are very happy to see such initiatives coming from the private sector in an effort to supplement Government’s effort through the creation of jobs in the country. Rest assured that Government will continue to create economic policies that promote entrepreneurship in the country and we will support you in implementing such initiatives in the construction industry,” he said.

The Minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary- budget, Mrs. Pamela Kabamba.
