The family of Zambian musician Steve B who was shot by the police and later died will give their side of the story on the matter on Friday.
Brother to Steve B, Daniel Nsomekela has announced that the family will hold a press briefing this Friday, June 23, 2017 at a venue to be communicated so they can tell the world what happened.
Nsomekela says at the briefing the family will also state what they intend to do after the murder of their relative.
“We are going to have a press conference on Friday 23rd , June 2017. If you know any media bodies interested to attend as I discuss the death of Steve B… and the course that will take.
We need your support to bring this matter to the public who have remained speculating. We hope you will have answers by Friday.
Venue and time will be communicated,” stated Nsomekela who is based in the US in a public notice brief statement.
But on June 12, 2017 Daniel Nsomekela in reflecting on his brother’s death wrote:
I Daniel NSOMEKELA, I think it is important to take a close look at the circumstances that lead to the police shooting of Steve Nsomekela in the chest when actually they said he was shot in hip. Two police officers have given two different interpretation, one said he was shot at his house and another one says he was shot as he was running away from the Cells.
Zambian are not coward people, Zambia is for free people of which the Nsomekela family belong. The Zambian have right to judicial rights then to the bullet. No matter how wrong someone is…is innocent till proved guilty.
For years, i have been dedicated to improve the life of the vulnerable people in Zambia and people like Steve Nsomekela made it easy for me, he drive me around and coordinated my work for the benefit of the Zambian people who have no pleasure to carry a gun to kill. We never demanded to be paid.. We did it for Zambia 🇿🇲 we will still do it even after brother is gone because we believe that is our assignment in this life.
In 2002-4, I was moved to start a political party with the late Cosmas Mwale.. the idea was to improve the life of Zambian people.
So support the idea of stopping killings suspects before they given opportunity to be in the court of law.
If at the end of the day, it was found Steve Nsomekela was wrong, he could have served as a criminal like others than been killed.
As my heart beats like drums 🛢 of war… am ready to make sure we put a stop to unwarranted killing.
Finally, some people have gone to the funeral house just to gather information …. on my family.
