Former Zambia national soccer team head coach George Lwandamina’s son Mofya Lwandamina has committed suicide after he and his 16-year-old friend allegedly raped and attempted to murder a woman of Water works in Libala.

Lwandamina, 28, and his friend identified as Keith Chemu both of Water works Libala are said to have tied up, beaten and raped a 25-year-old woman.

In a statement, Police spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo said the victim who is receiving treatment UTH sustained multiple cuts on the neck and chest.

“Chilenje Police received a report of attempted murder in which it was reported that a female adult aged 25 years of water works in Lusaka’s Libala township was found beaten, tied and raped by known persons to her identified as Mofya Lwandamina aged 28 years also of water works and Keith Chemu aged 16 years.

“The victim sustained multiple cuts on the neck and chest. The assailants also stole K400 and a Samsung phone.

“This occurred on 22 December, 2017 around 1400 hours at water works. One suspect by the name of Keith Chemu is in police custody while the other one Mofya Lwandamina committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance,” she said.
