Following a tragedy on Wednesday that left some Jerabos dead and others missing after the infamous Black Mountain collapsed, a combined team of state security has been deployed at the mountain to stop any mining.

Copperbelt province Permanent Secretary and provincial Police Commissioner Charity Katanga who visited the mountain said no mining activity should take place.

The PS warned that even the security officers who will be manning the mountain should not conduct any mining.

Around 09:50 hours today, the slug dump collapsed and buried some people who were mining. Ten people (jerabos) have been confirmed dead while over 50 are still missing.

Police have warned that the death toll is expected to rise as many youths are still missing, believed to be buried underground.
